BROMSGROVE Sporting boss Paul Smith called on his players to build on their strong start to the season in the Midlands Division One.

The Rouslers recorded their first opening-day win of the league season for three years as they beat Southam United 3-0 at the Victoria Ground last Saturday.

Victory was all the more satisfying as Bromsgrove had been held to a frustrating 1-1 by the same side at the start of 2015-16.

Sporting had previously defeated Division One rivals Heath Hayes 3-0 in the FA Cup extra preliminary round last week.

They now go to Littleton tonight (7.45pm ko) aiming to make it three wins in a row.

Smith said: “We have played two good teams in our division and been much the better side, which is pleasing.

“It was great to get off to a winning start and once we scored I don’t think we were ever in danger of losing.

“It’s important we build on this at Littleton, which won’t be easy because they had a good draw with Hinckley on Saturday.”

Sporting then face Northern Premier Division One side Rugby Town, who play two levels higher, in the FA Cup preliminary round on Saturday (3pm ko).

Will Tibbetts and Aaron Roberts are available after missing out because of holiday and suspension, respectively.

But, Craig Jones and Sam Wills will be unavailable.

Meanwhile, young midfielder Dayle Kenny has moved onto Coventry Sphinx.

Sporting have been drawn at home to Inkberrow in the Smedley Crooke Memorial Challenge Cup on Tuesday, September 27 (7.45pm ko).

Meanwhile, Sporting and their tenants Worcester City have mutually agreed that season ticket holders can attend the home fixtures of the other club for a reduced price.

For City’s home fixtures in Vanarama National League North, Sporting supporters will be entitled to a reduced admission price of £9 upon the production of their Rouslers season ticket.
