FAIRFIELD Villa boss Wayne Davis has been pleased his side’s start to pre-season.
On Saturday they drew 2-2 with Shipston Excelsior, racing into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals for Ellis Blakemore and Joe Brookes before their opponents hit back in the second half.
Villa tackle Enville Athletic at home this Saturday (3pm ko) and a week later take on Cadbury Athletic at home for a match in memory of former chairman Paddy Eades.
Davis, who has taken over as manager after a trophy-laden spell at Bromsgrove League outfit VBG Fairfield, said: “It was a good workout for the lads.
“We played some good football in the first half but we sat back after the break, that was nothing to do with the lads coming on.”
Villa have welcomed back striker Connor Collins, who had previously scored more than 50 goals for Villa two seasons ago in the Midlands Division One.
