DROITWICH Spa face a selection dilemma as joint-manager Wayne Oliver and Mark Owen juggle their squad for two Midland Division Two fixtures and a cup final this week.

Spa have two league matches before taking on West Midlands Division One side Worcester Raiders in the final of the Worcestershire Junior Cup, which will be held at Pershore Town, on Saturday.

After last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Chelmsley Town, Droitwich’s top-two hopes have been dashed as they look to secure a top-five finish.

They defeated Fairfield Villa 3-0 on Thursday night and go to Sutton United tonight (7.45pm kick-off) in the league before turning their attentions to the cup.

Oliver said: “It’s a balancing act, we want to pick up results in the league and win the cup.

“Obviously having two games in a week away from home is putting a strain on the squad, because it’s not fair to ask the players to sacrifice work twice.

“We also want to give it our best shot in the cup because we’d love to end the season with some silverware.

“We’ve have to change teams around and make sure players are fresh.

“It’s a chance to have a look at players and start thinking about next season, too.”

Droitwich are currently third in the table after Chelmsley bagged a second-half strike to seal a tight encounter.

It leaves them on 44 points, locked in battle with Rostance Edwards and Paget Rangers for third place.
