THE Men’s A tennis team from Barnt Green experienced a mixed week.

Last Wednesday night, the team travelled to Manor Park Malvern to play against their B team and the result was an impressive 6-0 win for Barnt Green.

First pair of Paul Cowie and James Flynn recorded two straight set victories as did second pair of Paul Bill and Chris Linsell.

Third duo of James Hodges and Dave Grinnell lost one set, but came through victorious.

On Sunday morning, the team played away against Worcester A and unfortunately came away with a 6-0 defeat to a strong team.

With Cowie and Bill missing, Blackwell tennis legend Alan Roberts stepped into the team to partner James Flynn and despite running the opposition close they still did not quite have enough.

This means that with one match left to play the team sits just outside the relegation places but must get some rubbers away at Stourbridge in the last match on Wednesday.

The Ladies A team ended their season with a walkover against Boughton A who cancelled at the last minute as they had no team.

This means the team has gone unbeaten all season, including a comprehensive victory against Bromsgrove B.
