DROITWICH Dolphins enjoyed success on three fronts.

Dolphins enjoyed a fine victory against local rivals in the Winter League Final, with the Town’s swimmers winning 15 events and coming runners-up in seven.

That meant they were in the top two for over half the gala’s events, fine improvement upon earlier rounds.

With loud support getting behind them Dolphins beat South Birmingham’s Orion Swimming Club by five points, with wins for Ruth Hadley (3), Tom Dean (2), Aaron Biddle (2), George Grech (2), Tim Quiney, Morgan King and Alex Munro.

They were supported by three relay wins notching up top points, which included 16 personal best times being set in individual events.

The Droitwich Dolphins juniors raced to victory in the first round of the Nuneaton and District Swimming League.

Dolphins finished over 30 points ahead of their rivals and from the 28 individual events there were an amazing 26 personal best times.

Joshua Royle won the under-9s butterfly and freestyle, there were also wins for Lily Smith, Jess Fox, Ben Chadwick, George Grech and Felicity Quiney, Megan Evans, Rowan Dennett and Anja Kristy.

There was a medley relay win for the nine year boys team of William Colley, Luke Barrington, Royle and Daniel Halkon, and freestyle relay victories for the 10 year girls of Evans, Smith, Lilia Young, Alysha Baylis, the 12 year boys of Alex Munro, Grech, Guy Duffy, William Armstrong and the boys mixed age cannon of Royle, Colley, Dennett, Chadwick, Matthew Daniels, Oliver McCullough, Duffy and Munro.

The final event, the mixed 8 length cannon saw the whole team screaming Olivia Weaver, Evans, Quiney, Elize Smith, Royle, Dennett, Daniels and Grech on to victory.

These 15 wins were backed up with 18 second places and seven third places giving a top three finish in 40 of the 51 events.

Meanwhile, at the Gloucester Masters open meet, captain Chris Jenkinson collected two golds and silvers, There was also gold and silvers for Alison Whiteman and Sue Watt.
