BARNT Green Illey Sunday and VBG Fairfield Villa savoured memorable weeks as they saw off opposition to win silverware.

Illey Sunday clinched the Bridgwater Cup when they got the better of Chaddesley Corbett 5-3 at Bromsgrove Sporting.

Villa also secured a trophy when they got the better of Rubery Athletic 4-2 in the Premier Cup final.

Barnt Green had earned a lucky reprieve to get to the final after initial opponents Bromsgrove United had been expelled after their semi-final win for playing an ineligible player, but they made the most of their opportunity by winning an entertaining game 5-3 to lift the club’s first ever silverware.

Danny Lawrence, Stephen McGlen, Colin Tandy (2) and Strevens scored to cancel out efforts by Chaddesley goal-scorers Dan Mroczkowski and keeper Chris Crook, who had bagged an eye-catching free-kick.

VBG Fairfield Villa goal-getter Richard Bishop bagged a treble to sink Rubery at the Victoria Ground.

Bishop had fired Villa ahead and then doubled their lead with a penalty.

Rubery pulled a goal back through Andy Court but Ellis Blakemore made it 3-1 in the second half.

Bishop completed his hat-trick with a free-kick and despite a second for Court, it could not deny Fairfield the trophy.
