DAN Protherough feels Bromsgrove’s ten-try demolition of Longton has set the standard for his in-form side.
The Boars notched up their biggest win of the season as they bounced back from a narrow defeat to Lichfield.
The bonus points win also helped to tighten their grip on fourth-place in the National Three Midlands.
Coach Protherough said: “In terms of general play this has been the best we have played this season. There were a few areas to be worked on, our scrums and lineouts were not up to our usual standard, but I was very happy with the performance.
“We are going well, the loss against Lichfield was narrow. I think the season has been okay, we were relegated and we had a lot of new players but it has gone well.”
Bromsgrove are still in contention for second place and the end of season play-offs, but face a very tough set of fixtures to end an encouraging campaign.
In their final six games, the Boars tackle top-five sides Nuneaton, Peterborough Lions and South Leicester.
“We have a lot of very tough games coming up so it’s hard to know where we will finish,” added the head coach.
“If we won all six games then we’d have a good chance of finishing second, although Hinckley are going well and have a slightly easier run-in.”
Bromsgrove go to fifth-placed Nuneaton on Saturday.
