BROMSGROVE Men’s B stormed to a 4-0 win over Woolaston B in Winter League Division Six.

John Casey and Tim Wright had to fight hard, winning critical tie-breaks in both their contests to win 6-3, 7-6 and then 7-6, 6-3.

Playing together for the first time this season, Voitek Niedzwiedz and Trevor Errington gelled well. Again their opening set was a tie-break win, but after that there was no looking back as they clinched the first encounter with a 6-3 second set victory.

They then finished strongly, winning 6-3, 6-4 against Woolaston’s first pair.

The Ladies C recorded a 3-1 away win at Cutnall Green in Division Five.

Debbie Oliver with Ann banner had two good victories. A tight first rubber saw them get the crucial points at the right time to win 7-5, 6-4.

They then had to dig deep to win a close three-set match 6-3 in the final set.

Anne Henderson and Millie Doherty beat their opposite pair 7-5, 6-3 but couldn’t keep the momentum going and went down 6-3, 7-5 to Cutnall’s first pair of Di Inchly and Jane Shrawley.

This victory keeps their unbeaten run going and they stay top of the table, on course for promotion.

Also playing away, the Ladies F Team took on Bewdley E Team and won 3-1.

Jane Corbett and Dilys Thomas took the plaudits with two dominating performances, winning 6-2, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-2.

Carol Cornellison with Alison Douglas had a tough opening match losing 6-4, 6-3 but came back strongly to win 6-1, 6-3 to ensure the victory for Bromsgrove and maintain their unbeaten run.

The Men’s E Team were at Worcester in a Division Nine tie.

In a close match, each Bromsgrove pair won one match but lost the other to make it 2-2.

But Worcester clinched victory by winning an extra set.

The Ladies B edged out Pershore A in Division Two.

In a tight match, Pershore’s first pair of Arnold and McCormick were pushed hard by both Bromsgrove pairs of Hannah Weston with Kelly Kenward and Imogen Sinclair with Sophie Cornelius, but held on for narrow victories.

It was a different story for Bromsgrove against the Pershore second pair of Prudden and Maguire as Bromsgrove cruised to easy wins 6-0, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-2.

With rubbers and sets equal this gave Bromsgrove victory by 42 games to 32, which keeps them in second-place with games in hand on the leaders.
