LEE Adams watched Alvechurch defeat struggling Dunkirk 4-1 on Saturday and then demanded more from his side.

A brace for Andy Nicol, as well as one for Connor Deards and Gareths Evans ensured Church made it three wins in a row.

But ever the perfectionist, Adams is looking for more improvement.

He said: “We played some nice football in patches but I was disappointed to concede a goal from a free-kick just before half-time.

“It meant we were leading 3-1 and another goal for Dunkirk would have made things tricky for us.

“We went on to score a fourth and it was good to make it three wins in a row.

“But it’s baby steps at the minute, the team is young and we’re improving.

“I like my teams to play eye-catching football and we’re not there just yet.”

The Lye Meadow outfit were set to play AFC Hinckley in a cup competition last night, with Adams set to look at James Cosgrave and Anthony Fitzmaurice.

They then tackle Causeway United away on Saturday (3pm ko), who knocked them out of the Birmingham Senior Cup several weeks ago.

Adams added: “Football is a squad game so I want to give some of the guys who have been patient a chance against Hinckley.

“Then we have Causeway on Saturday, they knocked us out of the cup so we know it’s a tough game.”

Adams also revealed that Coventry Copsewood forward Chris Gumery decided not to join Alvechurch.

He said: “Chris would have been slightly different from the other forwards we have but to be honest I am very pleased with who we have.

“Gareth Evans, Luke Shearer, Connor Deards and Andy Nicol are doing so well at the moment that a new forward is not a priority.”

l Alvechurch Lions got the better of Thomas Brothers 3-0 to book their place in the Premier Cup semi-finals.

Anthony Miller opened the scoring when he converted Garry Farmer’s cross.

Once Dane Morgan had put Lions 2-0 up from a free-kick, the result was then never in doubt.

Miller then set up Morgan for Lions’ third and final goal.
