Independent retailers have under two weeks to receive a grant to help boost Bromsgrove's retail scene.

Community traders are being urged to take advantage of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) grant available through the Centres Enhancement Grant scheme.

The aim of the scheme is to revitalise Bromsgrove's retail centres by encouraging the occupation of vacant premises, improving storefronts, and enhancing accessibility of occupied units.

The grant scheme, set to close for applications on Friday, February 16, anticipates fostering entrepreneurship, creating new jobs, and increasing footfall in Bromsgrove's centres.

Both existing and prospective independent traders can bid for up to £10,000 for occupying vacant units and £5,000 for enhancing occupied ones, depending on the projects they put forward.

Cllr Sue Baxter, the deputy leader and portfolio holder for economic development and regeneration, said: "We are really pleased that so many retailers have already signed up to get their share of this grant funding, which will lead to numerous projects to revitalise our district centres.

"There’s plenty more to go around so please apply today and make your business dreams a reality."

Numerous businesses have already taken the opportunity, but there remains ample scope to earn a slice of the funding.

Businesses or organisations settled in the town centre and district centres in the area can apply for grants to cover the costs for improving aspects like frontages and accessibility of occupied units, and taking up previous empty retail spaces.

While particular preference will be given to applications from Bromsgrove Town Centre and Rubery Village, applications from Alvechurch Village, Aston Fields, Barnt Green, Catshill, Hagley, and Wythall will also be considered.
