FIRE crews were called to a crash on the M5 near Frankley Services this afternoon.

The incident happened just before 3.30pm.

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed its crews were alerted to a road traffic collision at 3.28pm today (Monday October 2).

A spokesperson added: “Two Bromsgrove Fire Station crews attended the southbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 4 near Frankley Services along with West Midlands colleagues from Woodgate Valley.

“The collision involved two vehicles with no people trapped and three people were left in the care of the ambulance service.

“The vehicles were made safe while the motorway was closed southbound with the police and highways agency also in attendance.

“The final HWFRS crew left the incident at 4.08pm.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it sent one ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene and that three patients were assessed by ambulance staff - having sustained minor injuries - but all three were discharged at the scene.
