THE owners of a dog which went missing from their home in Rubery last week have been plagued by hoax calls demanding money for their beloved pet.

Katie Wright and Ryan Edwards feel ‘hopeless’ after losing their Border Terrier named Bucky last Thursday, June 9.

Whilst they were on holiday in France, Katie’s sister looked after Bucky at the couple’s home on Brookdale Close.

The front door was not bolted shut and Bucky darted outside and vanished.

In the last few days, Ryan and Katie have put up various posters around the area appealing for help.

However, they have been the victims of cruel hoax calls demanding large sums of money for the return of Bucky.

Katie said: “We would pay it but we need proof they have him.

“We know it’s a hoax as people ring off a private number.

“It’s not really helping the situation as we think that someone has genuinely found him then we realise it’s a hoax."

Bucky, who is nine years old, suffers from epilepsy and needs regular medication.

Katie added: “He will start to have seizures which will make him disoriented, and he won’t be able to find his way back home.

“We have only had Bucky eight months, so we are still training him.

“We feel hopeless - we feel like we are never going to find him.

“A man was spotted chasing him on Friday.

“We are appreciative people are trying to help but we are scared this has spooked him and he has bolted.

“It’s such a shame as he was so close to home and now, we don’t know where he is.”
