FIVE intrepid childcare practice nurses from Bromsgrove will put their bodies on the line by taking part in the gruelling physical challenge of Coventry's Ramrun next month.

The event, which takes place on October 2, isn't for the faint-hearted as it includes a variety of testing obstacles and hurdles to tackle en-route.

Competitors will have to contend with a total of 49 obstacles over the demanding 12km course that contains a water-slide into the River Avon, along with climbing a 10ft wall, running through a sheep-dip, wading through marshland, swinging across bars and ropes and clambering through a 12 metre cargo net.

All five nurses taking part work at Kirsty's Little Treasures Nursery which is situated in Shenstone Close.

One of the nurses Emma Grove claimed: "Quite a few of us like to do a bit of fitness. We've even persuaded one or two of our partners and family to take part as well."

Emma will be joined in the Ramrun by fellow nurses Georgina Dahl and Grace Smith, deputy manager Craig Hale and proprietor Kirsty Toolan.

They plan to use the event to raise as much money as possible for Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Emma explained: "Quite a few parents who have children at Kirsty's Little Treasures have used Birmingham Children's Hospital for life saving treatment.

"We have one little boy at the nursery who wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for Birmingham Children's Hospital, so we were all in full agreement that it was a really worthy cause."

The nurses had set an original target of raising £500, but they are already well on their way to beating that.
