AS the new Bromsgrove train station nears completion, residents are being warned of upcoming roadworks and pathway closures to allow Worcestershire County Council to apply the finishing touches to the area.

In a letter sent to surrounding households on Wednesday, April 27, the Council explains that works will be carried out on the section of New Road between the mini roundabout and the railway station and that the footpath on the Ladybird public house will be closed.

Pedestrian ramp boards will be placed against the kerb line to ensure safe crossing to the opposite side of the carriageway while double yellow lines are applied to the Ladybird Junction eastern side of the station access road.

The works will also involve the removal of the pedestrian build out at the top of the station access road adjacent to the Ladybird Public House but one at the Co-op side of the road will remain.

Worcestershire County Council have ensured that road access to and from the existing Bromsgrove train station and the residential block at Elm's Court with be maintained and that the footpaths on Finstall and Stoke Road will not be affected.

The works are set to improve traffic flow along the station road to allow bus services to get to and from the new station.

Work is expected to begin on Wednesday, May 4 and is set to continue until Friday, May 13.

The site working hours will be from 7.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
