RESIDENTS in Bromsgrove and Redditch hoping to save money and help the environment, are being urged to take advantage of a scheme to help fund insulation for homes with solid walls in Worcestershire, before it’s too late.

The scheme offers grants of as much as £4,500 toward the cost of insulating homes with solid walls, and the work could lead to people saving as much as £455 every year on their energy bills.

The Green Deal Communities solid wall insulation project, has been running across the county since October 2014, but from Friday, February 12 people will no longer be able to register for an assessment.

Councillor Anthony Blagg, cabinet member for environment at Worcestershire County Council, said: "The Green Deal Communities scheme has been a fantastic opportunity for people across Worcestershire to save money on their utility bills. Here at Worcestershire County Council we are committed to protecting the environment, and this funding has made a significant contribution to that effort."

To register for an energy efficiency assessment, residents should call the energy company E.On on 0330 4001006 no later than Friday, February 12. They will then be contacted, but registration is not a guarantee that the work will be funded.
