THE MPs for Bromsgrove, Redditch and Alcester have managed to secure a discussion with the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, and the chief executive of NHS Improvement, to learn more about the intended plans to transform Worcestershire Acute Trust.

The three Conservative MPs Sajid Javid, Karen Lumley and Nadhim Zahawi have all raised concerns about the plans, gaining the support of Jeremy Hunt, and over the past few months they have worked to secure a meeting with NHS Improvement, the authority responsible for pushing through changes to the Trust which runs the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

The discussion is now set to take place in the new year with Jim Mackey, chief executive of NHS Improvement, who will present his plans.

Mr Hunt said: “Sajid, Karen and Nadhim have highlighted directly with me some of the ongoing issues with healthcare locally. I’m therefore pleased to bring together this purposeful discussion. It will be an extremely useful forum to have an open and honest discussion about how best to improve patient care.”

Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid, added: “Trust transformation is going to need careful navigation, so we have to make sure all plans and discussions are open and frank. I will be reporting back directly to my constituents on this urgent process.”
