MEMBERS of the public with questions about an environmental permit application are being invited to a drop in session in Fairfield.

The application for the permit is from Ballast Phoenix Limited to operate an incinerator bottom ash, recycling facility in Sandy Lane, Bromsgrove.

The permit is separate from the planning process, and focuses on technology used, how the site is operated, emissions from the operation and the impact the site will have on human health and the environment.

Issues such as the suitability of the location, the visual impact, and the need for the facility are being dealt with in the planning process.

The Environmental Agency is holding the drop-in session on Thursday, September 10, at Fairfield Village Hall, in Stourbridge Road, between 3.30pm and 8pm.

Neil Thomson, team leader, said: "It is important that we obtain and consider the views of the public before we make our final decision on the application.

"We would like to encourage communities close to the site to forward their comments on the application as part of our consultation process and this will close on September 30, 2015."

Copies of the draft permit and decision document are available at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/b61-0qt-ballast-phoenix-limited-environmental-permit-draft-decision-advertisement.

Anyone who wants to make a comment can do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Permitting Support Centre, Environmental Permitting Team, Quadrant 2, 99 Parkway Avenue, Parkway Business Park, Sheffield, S9 4WF.

Any comments should be made in September 30.
