COME rain or shine staff and pupils at St Peter’s Catholic First School in Rock Hill are gearing up for their annual summer fete this weekend, which is being held in the parish community hall.

The school has chosen to celebrate American Independence Day with a US themed fete, holding its own variety extravaganza ‘St Peter’s Pupils have Talent’, with pupils singing, dancing, and showing off their gymnastics skills.

Mickey Mouse will be coming along to see all the children, and there will be a workshop with craft activities for everyone to take part in.

There will be an American style diner selling everything from muffins and doughnuts, to chocolate dipped strawberries and marshmallows, fresh cream scones, Pimms and lemonade and the traditional burgers and hotdogs.

A whole host of stalls are also on offer, offering everything from fancy goods, toys, homemade pickles and chutneys, a chocolate tombola, a bottle tombola, a homemade cake stand, hair braiding, nail painting and face painting.

The school raffle also offers cash prizes and other created by the children themselves.

Therese Trueman from the Friends of St Peter’s said: “Our school raffle with its themed USA hampers donated and created by each class from reception to year four look incredible and are packed full of wonderful things. Please come along and enjoy a very warm welcome and a wonderful time.”
