A BROMSGROVE-based charity has held the official opening of a new garden room.

The Primrose Hospice supports people facing an end of life situation and their families during this difficult time.

The St Godwald's Road-based hospice had an afternoon tea event with volunteers, and entertainment was provided by a local band, for the official opening of the patient room.

A plaque was unveiled and the official opening was performed by former vice chairman and founder member of the hospice, Ivor Stephenson.

He said: "I have had the privilege of working with Primrose Hospice since its inception in 1987.

"Like many of our volunteers, I have seen the hospice experience many changes as it has developed and expanded its services to meet the needs of individuals with cancer and other life threatening illnesses and their families and friends.

"We have a committed board of trustees, excellent professional management in all areas of the organisation, superb staff who work together effectively as a team and many dedicated, loyal and hard working volunteers, without whom we could not exist.

"Above all we have the support of the people of Bromsgrove and Redditch in helping to raise the funds required."
